18th South Shields Company Marching Bugle Band

About

Our Marching Bugle Band has always been central to the 18th South Shields Companies Activities for the past 80 years.

The Company has a long history of winning competitions over the years, particularly from the 1960s to 1990s, when band work was extremely popular amongst Boys Brigade Companies in the UK. The band was booked almost every weekend to perform at school fetes and festivals. (see our picture galleries)

Unfortunately the popularity of the marching band has decreased over the years and many Companies have lost theirs but fortunately many Companies within the South Shields Battalion still have a band. This includes the excellent 10th and 8th South Shields Company bands, and here at the 18th, we also remain committed to maintaining a bugle band that performs regularly at parades.

Within the company we like to introduce playing an instrument at an early age and it is always an extremely enjoyable part of Company life.
